Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Best Quality

Just now noticed Wohoo I had an excellent investment.
I bout this camera 2 years back for around 220$ now the price is 360$ :)

This is a perfect point and shoot camera with little extra features (dont expect an Canon*IS cameras). Buy a large size SD card (4gb is cheap), extra battery (go for original canon batteries please) and you are all set.

Pros
- :)
- 8 Mp is more than enough.
- Red eye correction, IS
- Good number of scene modes.
- Stitch assist mode works great with little effort from us. Love stitch assist from canon. It works even with pictures taken from my mobile phone or other cameras in sequence..
- Option for changing shutter speed (Manual mode).
- Video quality is good. Canon bundled software is also good.

- Nice fit in your pocket. Good camera for photography non-experts
- Using it for about 2 years, no problems till now.

Cons
- Noise at Higher ISO

Good to have
- Battery indicator
- One button playback.Get more detail about Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.

Canon ZR960 MiniDV Camcorder w/41x Advanced Zoom - 2009 MODEL Get it now!

Okay, so this is a good camera as far as capturing the footage but I too have been caught up in the Firewire dilemma. Between me and my family there are four computers. Two Hewlett Packard's, one Compaq and one Emachine. None of these computers have a Firewire port to connect the camera to and edit the video. All my computers have a price tag ranging from $500 to $600 the low end. My understanding to a solution for this problem is to either buy a higher end computer with firewire port access, buy a firewire adapter card and have it installed, or buy an Apple/Mac. Either way you're spending more money.

So make sure your computer has firewire connectivity or you'll be stuck with raw footage like me and other consumers who have bought this camera and cannot transfer it to a computer for editing without coughing up more $$$. Otherwise the camera itself is great for the price!

Pros:
easy to use
good digital quality
external mic access

Cons:
lower end computers don't have firewire ports to transfer video
internal mic captures unwanted sounds and some camera noise
accessories are outrageous in commercial stores (use Amazon)

**Update**
So I installed a firewire port onto my computer and it was incredibly easy. Bought a Lacie pci card cheap from Amazon, took the cover off the computer and slid the card into the available slot. Now I can edit my footage and transfer onto a disk through my new firewire port.

Originally gave it three stars but after feeling better about being able to edit my footage I can happily give it four stars. That missing star is for going through the trouble of getting that firewire port. If you have the same problem I and others had, go to YouTube and look up, "firewire port intstallation".Get more detail about Canon ZR960 MiniDV Camcorder w/41x Advanced Zoom - 2009 MODEL.

Lowest Price Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Green)

The Canon SD1200 is a good ultra-small camera at the current price of around $150. For people planning to spend $200, there may be better choices from both Canon and Panasonic.

The materials and workmanship on the Canon SD1200 look cheaper than on my older Canon SD1000. The SD1000 looked like a very expensive camera, and the SD1200, up close, looks cheaply made. Looks don't always predict durability...judging by customer comments, it is likely that the two models are about equally reliable.

As with most small Canon cameras, photos taken in the "auto" mode are likely to be adequate, but seldom exceptional in quality. To get the best results with the SD1200, the owners should spend a couple of hours practicing setting exposure levels, ISO levels, and adjusting white balance, contrast, saturation, and sharpness. For most outdoor photos on a sunny day, the best results will come from "locking" the ISO at 100, dropping exposure 1/3 stop, decreasing contrast to the minimum, and increasing sharpness.

With practice, you can change exposure levels or ISO levels in less than five seconds. If a photo looks too bright or too dark, you can simply retake the photo with the exposure level adjusted for the best results. The tiny flash of the SD1200 works best if you "lock" the ISO at 200, and stay three feet to six feet from your primary subject. If you take a flash photo of a group of people sitting twenty feet away, you are likely to get poor results.

Read the complete owners manual, and work through all of the settings page by page. Many folks have, by accident, set their camera for macro focus and are surprised all of their photos are now blurry, or set the camera in a mode that takes tiny one meg sized photos, and are surprised by the photos not being sharp and detailed. A less than excellent photo with this camera will be the result of a mistake by the owner about 99 times out of a hundred.

The folks who complain about not getting sharp photos simply need to practice. To get sharp photos, you should press the shutter down halfway to lock the focus and exposure, hold the camera steady with both hands, and gently push down on the shutter. With practice, most people can get very sharp photos outdoors at shutter speeds as low as 1/15th of a second. The folks who hold their camera with one hand and fail to pre-focus will seldom get sharp photos with ANY small digital camera.

Although the SD1200 will fit into your jeans pocket, it belongs in a padded case. In your pocket, sooner or later you will damage the lens mechanism, and the lens will refuse to open or close. Or you will damage the viewing screen. Keeping the camera in a padded case in your bag or clipped to your built ensures many years of reliable service...and don't forget...never leave a digital camera inside a parked car...the 120 degree summer temperatues will fry its brain.Get more detail about Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Green).

Cheap Canon WP-DC21 Underwater housing for Canon G9 Digital Cameras

This was a fabulous addition to our Mexico adventure. We bought this hoping we would capture a few good shots...over 400 shots and movies at depths of 70 feet. This housing is very easy and simple to use. My only suggestions are...get a red filter (everything looks blue the deeper you go), and use the little silica bags to stop fogging. Sometimes the lens area would fog due to battery heat. Simple fix. This is a must have for underwater photos. A GREAT BUY.Get more detail about Canon WP-DC21 Underwater housing for Canon G9 Digital Cameras.
