This camera is Useless. I'm not sure where to begin with the six month odyssey I have been through with this THING.

First of all it not even mine. I bought it for my son for Christmas.

Seems to work great, as far as shooting and all goes. Problem is can't get the video off it on to any of our computers. My son has my old G4. What the heck, doesn't work on that. Its a bit disappointing, but I get it. Its an old computer.

So I figure we can download his videos onto my computer, another mac but with dual core intel Processor, 2.66 and 4GB of ram... Not So. cause I had Tiger OS 10.4- according to Canon Tech Support - My computer wouldn't recognize the camera. Live and learn.

A few months pass, My son's used the camera for stills which download just fine. But it is a Video Camera. It'd be nice if he could use it as such. So I called tech support again just to make sure I understood just what we had to do. They said all I had to do was update iMovie HD to iMovie 08 OR 09- That of course meant updating my OS to at least Leopard.

Snow Leopard was on sale, so I got that. Not that I needed a new OS but if it could get the kids camera up and runnin, why not. A new OS is always fun. 129 bucks later, we are finally ready to check out what this baby can do.

Nothing. It does nothing. I have been back and forth with Canon Tech support for days, and hours, done everything they have suggested. Initialize this, Download that, Copy this here, download there. Disconnect everything from your computer. Re boot.

I know I might sound like I am whining. But I have several other camera's, from still (nikon D200) to video (Sony HD) ,even a flip camera or two. None of these camera's have any problem communicating with this or any other computer in this house, regardless of their OS.

After doing everything that tech support asked over the course of a week, I asked them to either replace the camera or give me a refund cause obviously nothing we were doing was going to work.

And here is my real complaint. It's at this point that I felt I was sold a lemon by a shifty used car salesman. They refused to accept that there might be something wrong with their product and we went through a painful rebuke of all my equipment and software, which I had to refute step by step and piece by piece. Gig by Gig. One tech guy even suggested I get a PC.

I have everything required to for this thing to work- It just ain't workin'. This camera is a dud- wether they are all like this or it just this one- I don't know. This camera is not recognized By iMovie 09 and painfully slow to download even just to the desk top.

Canon never disappoints me. If you want to get a nice digital camera this is one of the best, if not the best, from the Power-shot series. Battery life is pretty good, the image quality looks great. If you know how to set it up to the Manual setting correctly, the images look like professional pictures. Since, I haven't played with it yet, (one of my photographer friends put the settings on the Manual), I go with Auto, which automatically chooses the best setting for the picture. Very good camera and convenient to carry for traveling. I had two other Canons before, without any problems. for a non-commercial grade machine, it definitely meets my expectations. it prints and copies quickly enough and the quality is absolutely fine. the energy saver mode keeps the machine quiet when not in use. it's easy to use, and it's nice having all the multifunctions in one unit. fyi, i initially had problems because my usb cable was ten feet long. the user manual does not warn of problems with long cables, but canon's fast and knowledgeable tech support folks solved that for me quickly. i'm a little annoyed that i must specify in the print dialogue box each time i want to use the manual feeder (aka multi purpose tray); the machine does not automatically detect paper in the manual feeder and print from it unless i first specify manual paper tray in my print dialogue box. it's nice to have the printer and fax available to my entire network via the cat 5 cable, but unless i'm mistaken, the only way to scan to your computer is through the usb cable, which meant that after installing the network drivers i installed the usb drivers and now have a confusing number of drivers in my print dialogue box drop down menu. i probably can remove the network drivers from the one computer that's connected via the usb, but i haven't tried that yet, and i wish the setup instructions made that clearer. also, the scans initially were coming out unacceptably faint until (again with the help of tech support) i lowered the scan resolution setting and changed from black-and-white to grayscale. the fax interface is a little annoying in that i can't access fax numbers from my outlook contacts and if i add an address to the canon fax address book there does not appear to be a way to delete it. overall, the machine is easy to use and performs with excellent quality. i am not disappointed.Get more detail about Canon imageCLASS D1150 Laser Multifunction Copier (3478B005AA).

I bought this camera looking for a relatively inexpensive HD video camera which was easy to use. Having had a Canon video camera before I thought this was a good choice.

Positives:
1) lightweight
2) simple controls
3) good microphone sensitivity

Negatives:
1) Video quality is poor in dim/indoor light, very grainy and occasionally it wouldn't focus correctly in dim light conditions
2) Turns out video is NOT 1080. That is, rather than shooting video in 1920x1080, it shoots at 1664x936 and upconverts from there.
3) Still picture quality leaves a lot to be desired. Very grainy and not focused

This is a very basic and simple camera. It shoots good video outdoors and in very good indoor lighting, otherwise image is grainy and occasionally poorly focused. Although you don't buy a camcorder for its still picture quality, this camera forced me to carry a dedicated still picture camera. Overall, at first glance it seems like a good option, but after trying it for a couple of days I decided to return it and go for the HF 200. It is $150 more, but it delivers where it matters most. It has better picture quality, images are better focused, it has better image stabilization and improved quality in indoor light.
