I shoot a 5D with prime lenses, but in low light, the autofocus often struggles. I never felt too confident in my manual focusing, so I figured this screen might help. And man, does it ever! The field of sharpness is very narrow, so as you turn the focus ring, thing will pop in and out of focus more precisely. I did a quick test - standing next to a light switch, manual focus on things in a darkened room, then turn on the light and let AF give it a shot - each time I was either spot on or very close! I purchased this camera because of the eye piece,since ive had problems using other type focusing systems.I found the camera operation to be very complex.During my initial testing of the camera the pictures that I took were of very poor quality when I reviewed them on the camera lcd After taking 8 test pictures the camera stopped working. I attempted to get it working again by contacting cannon but I had no luck. The camera has been returned to cannon for repair. This camera is not for the average senior citizen.

There are a significant number of technical reviews on this camera so I'll be brief. This is an excellent camera. Only upgrade that it lacks & I wish it had is in camera lens correction. The camera is very fast. It easily takes 6+ frames a second. Auto focus is very fast also, even in less than perfect light. You'll be able to use for virtually all sporting events. But it also has good depth & coloration for landscapes, portraits, etc. It does only have a 12 bit color processing system but color is very good. AND don't let the ONLY 10 megapixel issue throw you. Although 10mp may seem light compared to the newer models, I believe that is one of the reasons the camera is so good at processing light. The pixels are less compressed on the sensor and really seem to pick up light much better than some of the newer camera's. And you will find that the 10mp is more than you'll need even if you like to crop your photo's several times or blow them up large enough to frame & hang on the wall.

AND the biggest plus? This camera is a bargain right now. With the new 7D & 50D out, people are unloading this model very quickly. If you want a camera to use for several years, try this one & take the money you'll save and buy a couple of very good PRIME lens. You'll get amazing results out of even marginal camera's if you use good lens. And if you match up a couple of good lens (TRY USING PRIMES, not telephoto's! Save the telephoto's for sporting events, etc!) to this camera you'll be very, very happy with the results. Fyi, I would give this camera 4.5-4.75 stars if I could. I would give it 5 if it had in camera correction (for some lens aberrations) & a 14 bit color processor. Good shooting!
